The restaurant ticket ceiling has been doubled to 38 euros until the end of the year, it can also be used on Sundays and public holidays. This news is welcomed with optimism by consumers, but less by restaurateurs, who are above all waiting for a relaxation of sanitary measures.

REPORTAGE

"We're glad the ceiling can go up." From this Friday, the restaurant ticket sees its ceiling double to 38 euros until the end of the year, and becomes usable on Sundays and public holidays at restaurants. Good news for Lucas, who has accumulated "a lot of money" in this form without being able to spend it in recent months, and who says he is "happy" to see this ceiling raised.

1.5 billion euros waiting to be consumed

Because of the confinement, there are no less than four million employees like Lucas who could not spend their tickets, or 1.5 billion euros who sleep. An idea that also appeals to Toshiro: "It will allow you to consume, to make a restaurant for example in the evening, it can also be used for the family. It will be very practical."

But at a time when restaurateurs are still suffering from the consequences of confinement and are plunged into a real malaise, sometimes bordering on suicide, it is above all to help professionals that this decree was made. If a craze is palpable, restaurateurs point out that this means of payment is far from being profitable. "There are fees on this which are not negligible, both by the organization which transfers payments to you and by the person who collects tickets" explains Sébastien, manager of Regalia in Paris. "Finally, it is more interesting a credit card, there are less commissions on it!"

Easing of the impatiently awaited health protocol

Invited Thursday of Europe 1, the chief Philippe Etchebest estimated besides that the restorers faced too many constraints to be able to recover after confinement. "If nothing happens, the amount of bankruptcy will be colossal."
