Berlin (dpa) - According to plans by Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer, train stations throughout Germany should also benefit from the stimulus package of the federal government.

He had proposed a program for the modernization and refurbishment of 380 stations with 160 million euros, said the CSU politician of the «Passauer Neue Presse». These are small measures, but they have a big impact for small and medium-sized businesses and local crafts.

"In addition to simple renovation services, we could finance measures such as blind guidance systems or ramps to improve accessibility, better lighting, new customer information systems or new heating systems," said Scheuer. The money could be used this year and next. "This not only boosts the economy, but also makes train stations and thus train travel even more attractive."
