- The red burning jellyfish is found in many places, including in colder waters than here on the west coast, says Björn Källström. A simple model is that they are here in the spring when it is not too hot in the water, and then later in the summer with warmer water temperature they seek from here and above all to deeper water.

No, it will not be easy for the summer baths this year. They may keep an extra eye on the jellyfish as they dip. And many are involved when the jellyfish emerge, early or late in the season, this is noticed at the Gothenburg Marine Biological Laboratory. But they would like to receive notifications of marine life on the west coast by the public.

In the warmer temperature, the new cling jellyfish thrives

Two years ago, a new old jellyfish began to appear in the bathtubs around Tjörn. It is considerably smaller, large as a pentagon, somewhat similar to a water-borne spider, and can be burnt extensively. In English it is called The Clinging Jellifish, in the Swedish clan jellyfish.

- Unfortunately, it thrives in warmer water, says Björn Källström, but so far it is in few places and has not spread as much.

Finally, how should you do if and when you get burned?

- Rinse with plenty of salt water and scrape with a credit card, but then there are many different ideas how to treat this so I leave it to you to check with the medical science, says Björn Källström.
