these child abuse cases occur, private organizations commissioned by the local government will mainly investigate the cases. Because of this, it is often impossible to investigate properly because there is no compulsory investigation right.

In the end, it was a manpower and budget problem, and reporter Yoon Na-ra had a solution.

young child protection agency in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, where five investigators investigate over 500 child abuse cases annually.

As it is a private agency commissioned by the local government, the abuser often refuses to investigate.

I also felt physically threatened.

this .] So, from October of this year, the public officials investigated child abuse cases, and if the perpetrator refuses to investigate, A law that strengthened the right to investigate, including passing a fine of less than 5 million won, was passed in March.

However, due to the budget and human resource expansion difficulties, only 118 of the 229 cities and counties in the country have to take such measures first, and the rest of them still have to be investigated by private organizations.

Child abuse cases have increased steadily over the past three years, and the rate of abuse is increasing from 8.5% to 10.3%.

Nonetheless, only 68 out of 229 municipalities in the nation have specialized child protection agencies in charge of preventing child abuse and protecting victims.

Only 73 shelters provide lodging for victims and help with counseling and treatment.

This is because operating funds are expected only for the Crime Victim Support Fund and Lottery Fund, which have a limited amount.
