June 11, 2020 Akhtar Imam, a man who lives in the Indian state of Bihar, has decided to leave half his assets to two elephants. The pachyderms are called respectively Moti, 15 years old, and Rani, 20 years old.

Imam is a landowner and his estate is estimated at "tens of millions of rupees". At the current exchange rate, 10 million rupees equals 115 thousand euros.

For many years man has been involved in the campaign for the defense of elephants.

According to Akhtar Imam the two elephants to whom the inheritance will go have saved his life, warning him when bandits were about to attack him.

The man also said that animals are more faithful than humans and hopes that after his death his two elephants will be cared for by a non-profit organization.
