Many cars are waiting to access the Rezé recycling center, Friday, May 22, 2020. - F.Brenon / 20Minutes

The queues have been impressive in recent weeks! Sometimes more than two hours in line to access the recycling centers of the Nantes metropolis, reopened on May 11. This is due to the significant needs of users who had accumulated recyclable and bulky waste after two months of confinement. The fault was also due to the access restrictions: only three or four vehicles at a time were authorized at each site.

Nantes Métropole finally announces this week a relaxation of the measures to receive a greater number of users. One vehicle per bucket, between 7 and 10 vehicles at a time depending on the site, can now be accommodated.

Still 40 minutes of waiting on some sites

"The situation is improving overall for all the recycling centers and ecopoints: the queues decrease considerably to return to an almost normal situation for the season", assures the community.

There is still a lot of waiting in some places, like the recycling centers of Nantes-Prairie de Mauves, Saint-Herblain-Tougas, Orvault and Chapelle-sur-Erdre, where it takes between 30 and 40 minutes on average.

Preferred hours

To avoid the crowds, keep in mind that the calmest days are Tuesday and Thursday, that the most favorable time slot is from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., and that the most requested slots are from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. 5-5.45 p.m.

Nantes Métropole also advises to sort waste before coming, to spend as little time as possible on the site. Residents who have the opportunity are also invited to keep their green waste in their garden.
