The outgoing mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo (PS) and the ecologist David Belliard, who have merged their lists for the second round of the municipal elections, call on Thursday to "make the choice of ecology and solidarity", so that the crisis "is also an opportunity to accelerate change".

In a column published on the JDD.fr, Anne Hidalgo and David Belliard ensure that "ecology is, more than ever, the foundation" of their common project.

"Rapid transformations"

"It is this which will make our city resilient, that is to say capable of overcoming crises, health and climate," they say, promising to continue "to reduce the place of the car in our city." No more diesel vehicles will circulate in 2024 ”.

"The crisis has allowed us to carry out rapid transformations, with new pedestrian streets, widened sidewalks, cycle paths: all these developments are already acclaimed and we want them to become final," they continue.

The socialist and the ecologist also affirm that the city "must give more means to the youth: the means to live decently, to be formed, to engage, to find a place in a world to invent with them and for them".

Their list largely tops the voting intentions (44%) in the second round, ahead of those of Rachida Dati (33%) and Agnes Buzyn (20%), according to a poll of June 8.
