“  He was a great servant of the state, who dedicated his life to Gabon and the Gabonese.  These are the words published this Thursday morning on the Twitter account of President Ali Bongo Ondimba , to salute the memory of his former Prime Minister.

He was a great servant of the state, who dedicated his life to #Gabon and the Gabonese. Emmanuel Issoze Ngondet left today, too soon. It is a huge loss for our country. I keep in mind the memory of a faithful and loyal friend. May he rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/ZRwHhM46QY

Emmanuel Issozé Ngondet has had a long career as a diplomat in Europe and Asia. He was also ambassador to the African Union and the United Nations, before entering government in 2009, as Minister of Energy. He will then successively hold the portfolios of relations with Parliament, the Budget and Foreign Affairs.

MP for Makokou

Ali Bongo had appointed him head of government in September 2016 , a month after his disputed re-election for a second term. The Prime Minister remained in office until January 2019.

While the head of state was recovering from a stroke, and his chief of staff, Brice Laccruche Alihanga, was taking on greater importance in his absence, Emmanuel Issozé Ngondet had left the office.

Emmanuel Issozé Ngondet was then appointed mediator of the Republic. A post, considered by some as a "closet", which he had refused, preferring to sit in the National Assembly, as a deputy for Makokou, his hometown, under the colors of the ruling party, the PDG. A seat he still occupied.
