Today, the Finnish government announced that it is easing travel restrictions to a number of countries. But not to Sweden.

- Unfortunately, the epidemic situation is so bad in Finland that we cannot yet ease the restrictions on Sweden. Sweden is still an important country for us and we lift the restrictions as soon as possible, Interior Minister Maria Ohisalo told Finnish Yle.

Forming a "travel bubble"

Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said on Monday that Finland could form a "travel bubble" with the Baltic countries and Norway, while Sweden is more problematic.

Finland opens its borders at 15.06 on Monday to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. The quarantine rules against travelers from these countries are also lifted.

It is still possible for Swedes who own houses in Finland to cross the border.
