Emmanuel Macron plans to resign to better regain control? In any case, this is the hypothesis put forward by Le Figaro . According to daily reports , the president raised this possibility during a videoconference with the "first circle of London donors" in 2017.

According to one of the participants quoted by the newspaper, the head of state would have indicated considering submitting his resignation to cause, "  in the weeks or months to come  ", an early presidential election. I am sure of winning because there is no one in front  ", he would have assured, according to the daily.

The Elysée initially refused to confirm this information by calling for caution, before denying a little later as a whole. The President of the Republic never mentioned his resignation,  " the presidency told Agence France-Presse. He "  never participated in a videoconference with donors  ", during which, according to the daily, he made these comments.

Preparing for the “new era”

Resignation, dissolution of the National Assembly or referendum are all political options available to the president, analyzes our political journalist Valérie Gas . A few days ago at the palace, it was conceded that everything was under consideration to prepare what what Emmanuel Macron calls the "new era" of the presidential mandate. But there was no question of resignation. A scenario also considered unrealistic by someone close to Prime Minister Edouard Philippe.

All this indicates in any case that Emmanuel Macron is looking for the martingale to rebound after the health crisis. The possibility of a reshuffle is also considered. In the meantime, the head of state must speak on Sunday at 8 p.m. to draw up a first assessment of the health crisis, as a new phase of deconfinement approaches. A second presidential intervention could then be organized between the second round of the municipal elections, on June 28, and the National Day of July 14 to detail his plans for the end of the quinquennium.
