When will the vaccine be prepared? Should I change my residence to avoid a new wave of injuries? Will I find work? Many Americans turn to astrologers for answers, in the face of the uncertainty and fears associated with the Corona Virus pandemic.

Michelle Bell, 54, consulted astrologer Jenny Lynch, known in this midst in New York, when her mother died of the virus in April.

"I found myself drowning in a very toxic energy field," she told AFP. Based on her birth date, place and hour, Jenny Lynch told her that 2021 is the time to fulfill her dream of living abroad.

Astrology is a significant sector in the United States. About 30% of Americans believe that the movement of stars and planets affects their lives, according to a 2017 poll by the Bio Research Center.

In 2018, Americans spent $ 2.2 billion on astrologers and fortune-tellers, according to ibis World Market Research.

Contradictory messages

With the isolation measures circulated in March, and with many political officials sending contradictory messages about the evolving situation, visits to astrology sites increased, comScore says.

Jenny Lynch charges $ 150 an hour to "read" the astronomy. It gained 10 new customers shortly after the isolation measures went into effect in New York on March 22.

"Some have lost their jobs and want to know what is waiting for them. Others want to launch a new company. Many want to move to another place (...) Everyone is in a transition period," said Lynch, a 50-year-old superstar.

Ann Ortelli, another well-known astrologer in New York, says her revenue has increased by 25% with the pandemic.

She added that the demand has risen because many people question the instructions issued by political officials.

"Do they take you to the right place or try to kill you by asking you to sterilize yourself?", Referring to strange advice given by US President Donald Trump in April.

Every fortune-teller gives his expectations with expectations that are sometimes free of humor.

"Now that everyone has heard about the isolation period, I see prison reform with greater importance for rehabilitation programs," says fortune teller Derek Caliber.

He adds that shaking hands will be absent for several years and "will return in fashion after that."
