This is one of the novelties of this summer. An ephemeral swimming pool will be installed in Lyon on the very grounds of the velodrome in the Tête d'Or park. Equipment that will compensate for the lack of pools in the third city of France, and which will strengthen the offer in a context where access to other pools will be changed this summer.

#Lyon an ephemeral #pool will open this summer at the velodrome in the parc de la tête d'or. Access will be by reservation and the authorized time slot will be 2 hours. As in the other swimming pools of the city. pic.twitter.com/Gts0sVZOw3

In detail, two pools will be temporarily mounted as well as a play platform reserved for children. Visitors will also be able to enjoy 2,000 square meters of lawned beaches, namely reading and relaxation areas. But no changing rooms. "We come with our swimsuit directly and the whole will be regularly disinfected," smiles Yann Cucherat, sports assistant, candidate for mayor of Lyon.

Two hours max on site

Access will also be very restricted. As in the 4 other summer swimming pools in the city (Tony Bertrand, Mermoz, Duchère and Gerland nautical center). “Visitors will benefit from a 2-hour slot. No more. This will allow for better rotation, ”says the elected official. Access will only be available upon registration and upon presentation of proof of address, because this year, the Lyon basins will only be reserved for residents of the city. "This will also avoid long queues at the entrance to swimming pools, which are generally sources of tension," continues Yann Cucherat.

Same formula for everyone: 2 euros for a 2-hour slot and twice a week maximum. Again to allow more people to be able to swim. The gauges will be limited to 80 people for the temporary pool, those for Mermoz and Gerland, 150 for the Rhône pool and 120 for the Duchère.

Finally, the pools will open on July 2 for the Tête d'Or, the Duchère and the Tony Bertrand center and the following day for the other two. They will all be on the same date: July 6.
