A police officer was violently hit by a car while trying to stop it, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. The events occurred in the commune of Caissargues, in the agglomeration of Nîmes. A few minutes earlier, a gendarmerie patrol had launched an alert after having tried, in vain, to control this same vehicle, a powerful German sedan.

Alerted, a crew of the national police then tried in turn to immobilize the vehicle with a harrow. But the driver avoided him and voluntarily ran into the police, according to a union source.

The car found burnt down

The police officer, hit in the head, was transported to the Nîmes teaching hospital. He was prescribed ten days of ITT. His colleague pulled twice in the direction of the vehicle in an attempt to stop it, but failed to touch it.

The car was found burnt down a little later near the Bastide sports complex. An investigation entrusted to the departmental security is opened for "attempted murder".
