China News Agency, Moscow, June 10th-The Russian Legal Information Network released a draft law submitted by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The draft stipulates that government procurement of foreign medical masks is prohibited until the end of 2021.

The draft law included medical masks in the catalog of goods prohibited by the government from purchasing abroad by the end of 2021. The comment part of the draft law mentions that the current production capacity of Russian medical masks has reached 6 million per day, and it is expected that by August the mask production capacity will increase to 11 million per day. At present, the daily demand for Russian medical masks is about 6 million pieces, and the domestic production capacity can fully meet the needs.

The note says that in the first half of this year, the Russian government purchased medical masks totaling 160 million rubles, which accounted for about 10% of the total Russian medical mask market.

This draft law is currently in the stage of soliciting opinions from society, and will be submitted to the Parliament for deliberation thereafter.

On June 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that Russian enterprises and companies should give priority to the purchase of domestically produced light industrial products, including masks and other medical protective items. Since then, Russia has introduced measures to support the production of medical enterprises.
