10 June 2020 After having successfully tested the Baltic Travel Bubble, i.e. the free movement of people between the three Baltic Republics, Lithuania has finally loosened the blocking measures since 1 June and reopened its borders also to Italian tourists, who they will be able to go to the country without having to resort to the 14 days of self-isolation scheduled until a few weeks ago.

"We are excited to welcome Italian tourists back to Lithuania," said Indre Slyziute, head of Lithuania Travel's Italian market. "Italy has always been a priority market for us, capable of bringing 48,994 visitors in 2019 (+ 13.2% on 2018). We have already resumed a close collaboration with Italian operators, to plan together the next steps and to return to being as early as this summer, a reference destination for all those who want to spend an outdoor holiday in a country of authentic beauty, immersing themselves in the greenery and getting to know Lithuanian traditions and culture up close ".

Thanks to the containment measures of Covid-19, the whole of Lithuania is gradually easing the restrictions and returning to normal. The major attractions of the country are already operational, while respecting social distancing and maximum sanitation and it is no longer required to wear a mask in the open spaces. Hotels, cafes and restaurants have regularly resumed their activities, while events are also restarting, albeit with limited audiences. Air links are also increasing day by day.

Ryanair flights from Bergamo and Rome Ciampino to Vilnius and from Milan Malpensa and Naples to Kaunas will be planned from 1 July, while from the end of October they will be available from Treviso to Vilnius and from Bologna to Kaunas. Pending authorization from the Lithuanian government, Wizzair direct flights will be active from Malpensa to Vilnius. In addition to flights to Italy, the routes to Latvia, Estonia, Germany, France (Paris), Norway and Finland and the Netherlands have already resumed regularly.

"With our low population density and points of interest not limited to a single city, we have always been an uncrowded destination. I am sure that this year Lithuania can offer that type of relaxing and healthy holiday, combining exploration of nature and cultural tourism, which many around the world deserve and desire, "says Dalius Morkvenas, director of Lithuania Travel. In addition to Italy, the easing of measures also affects other European countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.
