The FSB prevented a terrorist attack in one of the markets of Simferopol. This was reported in the press service of the department. Five suspects were detained, all of them are Russian citizens.

In addition to preparing the explosion, they “propagated the ideology of terrorism and extremism on the Internet,” they added to the intelligence agency.

Extremists seized, in particular, improvised bombs, small arms and cold steel.

“Homemade explosive devices, ammunition, small arms, cold steel, communications equipment containing information about the crimes being prepared, as well as contacts with representatives of radical Ukrainian forces fighting in southeastern Ukraine, were seized,” the message said.

Currently, the issue of initiating a criminal case under the articles “Preparation for the implementation of a terrorist act” and “Public calls for terrorist activities”, which provide for up to 20 years in prison, is being decided. In the near future, the court will choose a preventive measure for detainees. In addition, there is a search for extremist accomplices.

The head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov commented on the detention of a terrorist group. On his Facebook page, he emphasized that terrorism since the 2014 coup has become “the style and integral part of Ukraine’s state policy.” According to Aksyonov, Ukraine is a constant source of terrorist threat for the Russian Crimea.

“These attempts have always had and will have the same result: a complete failure. Our power structures have the most powerful military and counter-terrorism potential, which allows us to neutralize any threats and fully ensure the safety of Crimeans. I thank the staff and the management of the FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol for their excellent professional, systematic work! And the terrorists and their accomplices will get what they deserve. ”

The FSB also published a video of the detention, as well as another video clip of the searches.

The first two-minute video showed an aerial photograph of the house in which some of the five detainees lived, as well as the moment the FSB entered the house. This is followed by the interrogation of two suspects, seized documents, pistols and improvised explosive device are shown. After that, the detainees are put in a van.

Then, the man’s detention at another address where they found a fuse to a makeshift bomb is shown. “I tried to resist,” one of the operatives comments. At the end, you can see the aerial survey of the market, where detainees, according to current data, were preparing a terrorist attack.

Another minute-long video shows how FSB officers enter the entrance and enter the apartment of another detainee. On the spot, investigators seize ammonium nitrate, improvised explosive devices and striking elements in the form of metal balls.

The head of the Crimean Parliament’s Committee on People’s Diplomacy and Interethnic Relations, Yuri Hempel, commented to RIA Novosti. Crimea also commented on the situation.

“Let me remind you that for six years after the Crimea returned to Russia, the Russian special services prevented a number of terrorist attacks. We must give them their due and deep bow. There are scoundrels everywhere. We have many opponents. And if we were not actively engaged in public diplomacy and networking, including with organizations in Ukraine, there would probably be more such attempts, ”Hempel quoted the agency as saying.

Earlier in early June, in the Chuvash Republic, during the operational-search activities, the FSB found a cache of homemade bombs. The department noted that after the discovery of the cache, the explosive devices were neutralized, law enforcement officers seized items of importance to the investigation, and also questioned the witnesses. The TFR opened a criminal case under the article “Preparation for the commission of a terrorist act”.

In April, it was reported that in the Chkalovsky District of Yekaterinburg, the FSB prevented terrorist attacks and neutralized three terrorists. At the scene of the operation, security forces discovered improvised explosive devices, weapons and ammunition.

In February, the FSB stopped the preparation of two terrorist attacks in educational institutions of the Crimea. Two adolescents from Kerch born in 2003 and 2004 were detained on this fact. Juveniles developed attack plans, after which they found on the Internet building schemes and instructions for making improvised explosive devices. In addition, they administered in the social networks and instant messengers the so-called death groups, whose members were persuaded to similar crimes.
