- I think that municipalities should think through all the decisions they make, before and during the summer, from a children's perspective, says Johanna Thulin, associate professor at Linnaeus University who researches children's vulnerability.

The restrictions of the Corona pandemic and the lack of state subsidies have meant that several municipalities in our area have chosen to suspend camp activities and law activities for children and young people this summer. Something that strikes extra hard against the children living in troubled home conditions.

- Many children have lived especially isolated this spring, it is generally but affects those children who have a hard time at home extra hard. Then perhaps you have even more looked forward to the planned summer holiday activity, says Johanna Thulin.

Extra large need this year

At the same time, more and more families have been in a tough financial situation during the past spring, which means that the children who feel anxious about home conditions and the family's situation are increasing.

- More families than usual will need social support this summer, which means a special pressure for these families. Colloquial and camp activities can provide a huge refuge for children. There they can be just children and relieve this responsibility, and can do things that feel good for themselves, says Johanna Thulin.
