“When visiting the pre-trial detention center No. 4, the commission members met with Alexander Zamyatin, who said that, having been in custody since 2017, he completely lost his eyesight and received the first disability group,” said Boris Klin, special correspondent for RT and commissioner.

According to him, the reasons why Zamyatin continues to remain in the isolation ward are not known to the commission.

“In accordance with Government Decision No. 3 of January 14, 2011, eye diseases accompanied by complete blindness are classified as diseases that prevent detention,” said the human rights activist.

Members of the PMC recommended urgently sending Zamyatin to a second medical examination for the presence of a disease that excludes his detention in the detention center.

According to RT, Alexander Zamyatin was charged with the murder in August 2011 of the head of the city settlement Sergiev Posad, Moscow Region, Yevgeny Dushko. Currently, the criminal case is being considered by the Moscow Regional Court.

The investigation believes that Zyamyatin was part of the gang of Konstantin Piskaryov, known under the nickname "Kostya Bolshoi", which operated in the capital region from 1999 to 2016. The bandits accounted for at least 18 murders, including Eugene Dushko.

Zamyatin said during a conversation with members of the PMC that he does not plead guilty.
