On the heights of Luminy, in Marseille, the panorama of the sea is breathtaking - Mathilde Ceilles / 20 Minutes

  • The health crisis linked to the coronavirus should favor tourism in France during the next weekends and this summer.
  • To inspire you a bit for your holidays, "20 Minutes" has chosen five hikes or bike tours to discover around Marseille

The weather is good, the sky is blue… but, due to the coronavirus crisis, some cannot or do not prefer to leave Marseille. Never mind, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, objectively the most beautiful region of France, there is no shortage of bike or walking tours for a getaway to the countryside, very close to the big blue. Here are five ideas for outings to do in Marseille and its surroundings.

Bright Luminy

Luminy, among the youngest Marseillais, above all evokes amphis, a restaurant U and the TDs of university. This corner away from downtown Marseille, in the ninth arrondissement, constitutes an important campus of the University of Aix-Marseille. But, as surprising as it may seem, it is also the gateway to splendid hikes in lush greenery and calm. A rather easy 7-kilometer loop on the heights of Luminy, at the foot of the Puget massif which culminates at 564 meters above sea level, notably offers a breathtaking panorama of the Mediterranean Sea, at the gates of the Calanques National Park, between two Aleppo pines. A car park is located at the start of the circuit. Possibility of going there by bus, getting off at the terminus of line 21.

In Carry, there is no lizard

Do you want to take a stroll in an exotic place, which runs along the sea, without spraining your ankle or making a bloody inkling to watch over your children who are struggling behind? It's possible ! In Carry-le-Rouet, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, in the heart of the Côte Bleue, the lizard path that hugs the coast allows you to wander away and cross beautiful landscapes on a very easy and end-to-end passable. The path begins at the end of the port of Carry, on the right. Very well indicated, it is punctuated by a few explanatory panels for the most curious.

In Sanary, it does not laugh

For several years, the Var department has been working on the development of a long discontinuous cycle path along the coast. To date, 92 km have been developed, including 77 km on its own site, intended exclusively for non-motorized users. Where to start ? At 20 minutes , it is particularly advisable to leave Sanary-sur-Mer, after strolling on the market elected the most beautiful market in France in 2018. Then, just follow the cycle path along the many beaches to Six Fours . The stop for a refreshing swim is highly recommended ...

The Winds of Reason

To get away from the coast and its many tourists, head to the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence! The tourist office advises many hiking trails in this department away from any hustle and bustle. Among the essentials is of course the discovery path of the Penitents, also called the rocks of the Mées, named after this famous spectacular rock. To borrow as a matter of urgency, since the site is constantly evolving: one of the Penitents even had to be destroyed recently destroyed with explosives after heavy rain!

Play your all-out on the Ventoux

Difficult, when we talk about a spot for cycling enthusiasts in the Paca region, not to mention Mont Ventoux. The ascent of this Vaucluse mountain, whose summit rises to 1,910 meters, is one of the essential stages of the Tour de France. It is climbed each year by amateur cyclists from around the world to heat their calves on the steep slopes of the Mont. For the less athletic, it is recalled that the electric bicycle is a technological revolution which, like EPO on some, works miracles, the side effects in less.
