Emmanuel Macron receives Wednesday at 5 p.m. the president of the French Football Federation (FFF), Noël Le Graët, to discuss in particular the economic recovery of professional and amateur football, paralyzed by the coronavirus epidemic, said the Elysée.

"The President of the Republic will meet with the president of the FFF Noël Le Graët on the consequences of the Covid-19 crisis on French football and the challenges of the economic recovery of the sector," announced the presidency on Tuesday.

According to RMC, the president of the FFF Noël Le Graët hopes to go beyond the maximum gauge of 5,000 people currently set by the government to avoid the spread of the coronavirus during sporting or cultural events.

Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu said on Monday that he would not rule out the idea of organizing the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue finals, scheduled for this summer, with 20,000 spectators in the stands, in accordance with the wishes of the French Federation.

"Today, it is 5,000 people. We will obviously work so that, if the health doctrine allows, the tonnage can increase," said the minister.

The finals of the Coupe de France (Paris SG - Saint-Etienne) and the Coupe de la Ligue (Paris SG - Lyon) could kick off the resumption of football in France in late July and early August.

They are scheduled at the Stade de France, in Saint-Denis, which can accommodate around 80,000 spectators in normal times.

The Council of State rejected Tuesday the idea of resuming the 2019-2020 season of Ligue 1, defended by Lyon, but suspended the relegations of Amiens and Toulouse, paving the way for a championship with 22 teams.
