09 June 2020 Pau Donés, the leader of the Jarabedepalo (formerly Jarabe de Palo) died at the age of 53. He had been suffering from cancer since August 2015. The Spanish press announces it, taking up a family post on social media.   

The singer's family thanks "the medical team and all the staff" of the hospitals that have followed Pau Donés, "for the work and dedication they have dedicated to him during this period" and asks "the utmost respect for privacy in this difficult moment ". 

Born in Montanuy, Aragon, Donés has linked his career to Jarabe de Palo since 1995. In 1996 the debut album, La flaca, title of one of the songs contained on the disc which was the song of summer 1997. A success unstoppable, then continued with Depende (1998), De Vuelta y Vuelta (2001) or Bonito (2003).   

The latest album, Traga or escupe, dates back to the end of May. During the lockdown linked to the coronavirus pandemic - remembers El Pais - Pau Donés had recorded on the balcony of the house to the sound of the Vuelvo guitar, a song in which he sang "I do what I always wanted to do again", nothing but composing songs and sing them. Among his latest public appearances, a concert in Barcelona in late 2019 to raise funds for the Vall d'Hebrón Institute of Oncology. During the epidemic, he donated 2,500 masks to another public hospital, the Moises Broggi.
