Rashid Ghannouchi, head of the Tunisian parliament and head of the Ennahda Movement, said in an interview with the private television channel "Nesma" that the President of the Presidential Council of the Libyan reconciliation government, Fayez al-Sarraj, represents international legitimacy in Libya, and that Tunisia recognizes one Libyan government.

This came in a comment on what was raised by the last parliamentary session on the situation regarding the Libyan conflict, without ruling out changes within the Tunisian government in his talk of internal affairs.

Ghannouchi indicated that he called for a peaceful solution in Libya, considering that it is natural for him to congratulate Al-Sarraj, because Tunisia has economic interests, in addition to the fact that the Al-Wefaq government is the internationally recognized legitimate government.

He also added in the dialogue that was broadcast yesterday evening that he congratulated Sarraj, because he represented a government that achieved field victories, considering that the parliamentary dialogue session was a session of honor for Tunisia and a training in democracy, and Tunisia emerged victorious that night.

He stated that it is important that Tunisia's interests be the highest, no matter how different the parties.

Parliamentarians in Tunisia criticized Ghannouchi (the head of the Ennahda Movement, the largest party in parliament, 54 seats out of 217) after congratulating Libyan Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj on restoring the strategic patriot base by phone on May 19.

After a heated session that continued until late hours, the parliament dropped a draft list submitted by the Free Constitutional Party bloc stipulating what it called the parliament’s refusal to interfere in Libya and its opposition to forming a logistical base on Tunisian soil, after the majority of the blocs rejected what came in the content of the list, which it described as lining up with countries At the expense of other countries.

Tunisian affair

In his statements related to the Tunisian internal affairs, he said that the current government situation cannot continue with the current formula, calling for amendments within the government to create a balance between the government and parliament and harmony between the parties participating in it.

Al-Ghannouchi pointed out that the Ennahda movement broke up the government solidarity document, stressing that those who talk about this ridicule the awareness of Tunisians.

He stressed the need to reach a joint agreement to make changes in the government that would make there a consensus between Parliament and the government and the parties participating in it, without specifying the date of those changes that he previously said would take place in the country.

He explained that the stability of the country needs parties that participate in the programs, and that they are looking for the parties to be the first, second, third and fourth in the government.

Sign and postpone

And last Friday, the Tunisian government announced the postponement of signing the government document of Solidarity and Stability - which was scheduled on the same day - to a later date that it did not specify, without stating the reasons.

The document - which Prime Minister Elias Al-Fakhfakh presented to the ruling coalition parties in mid-May last - aims to put an end to the political wrangling in Tunisia, clean the working climate between the parties and parliament, and renounce conflicts.

Al-Ghannouchi considered that the relationship with the President of the Republic comes in the period of the country's experience of a new system of government, after years of a highly centralized authority, considering that it is not strange that there are problems, considering that in light of pluralism, the matter requires experience and patience.

This answer comes in response to the rumors about a power struggle between the legislative and executive institutions, which Ghannouchi denied in previous statements.

We are trying a new system based on leaving the central authority to distributing power. So it is not surprising that there are problems. What is required today is how to guarantee unity in light of this plurality.

Looking ahead

Ghannouchi sent a message to the Tunisians, considering that they should anticipate the future despite the difficult and difficult social conditions, considering that Tunisia has a future because it has achieved a democratic transformation despite the winds trying to extinguish this flame that will remain and illuminate as it lit them with freedom, we will illuminate it with development.

Ghannouchi was also very impressed by what Tunisia had achieved in its war against the new epidemic of Corona (Covid 19).

In his dialogue, Ghannouchi extended a greeting to the Libyan and Algerian people, and indicated that Tunisia will have a new start towards the Maghreb.

He pointed out that Tunisia needs reforms made by the Tunisian awareness and the national interest despite the differences, as Tunisia is like a ship that carries everyone despite their differences, and we can expand our chest to each other, he said.
