Local council: "The new owner is here to stay"

According to municipal councilor Jimmy Jansson (S), the money will be used for new properties in, among other things, school, elderly care and pre-school, new rental apartments and renovation of existing ones.

The decision to sell the public housing led to protests among tenants, who among other things are worried about rent increases. Jimmy Jansson, however, believes the unrest is unfounded.

- The new owner is here to stay, you are long-term. You are not here to buy, renovate and sell, he says.

Before the transaction can be finalized, formal decisions are required in Eskilstuna Municipal Corporation AB, the Municipal Board and the City Council.
