June 09, 2020 "The regions concerned will use the first Sunday of September" to vote: the president and vice-president of the Conference of the Regions, Stefano Bonaccini and Giovanni Toti, reiterate this in a letter to the government. In this way, they add, "the Regions reaffirm their full competence in the matter of regional elections".

Bonaccini and Toti in the letter sent to the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, and to the ministers Francesco Boccia, Luciana Lamorgese and Federico di Incà, criticize the position of the Government and of the Parliament, because in their judgment "did not take into account the indications formulated by the Conference of the Regions, assumed in full consistency with that indicated by the Scientific Technical Committee ". "All this - they still underline - in clear violation of the principle of loyal collaboration between the institutions".

The reference is to the bill converting decree-law no. 26 containing 'Urgent provisions on electoral consultations for the year 2020' under discussion in the Chamber and the amendment approved in article 1 of the same provision, 'with which the electoral window is opened from 15 September 2020'.

Bonaccini and Toti, confirming the position of the Conference of the Regions "previously taken on the electoral windows", therefore announce "the intention of the Regions concerned to use the first Sunday of September for the calling of regional elections, also at the in order to guarantee the regular start of the school year and to limit any new epidemiological risk ".
