It was on December 21 last year that a 27-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

When the indictment came, the prosecutor claimed that the man murdered an even-aged man by stabbing him to death in a car. And the day after, the body drove to a property north of Köping.

The man has acknowledged certain circumstances. The woman denies the allegations of crimes against marriage and protection of criminals.

- There are small things, but nothing that really explains why it became so brutal, says Chamber Prosecutor Fredrik Ingblad.

The suspected man's defense attorney, Ingvar Backman, believes the murder should be considered a homicide.

- The brawl starts from a heated discussion that NN sees as threatening. There is nothing planned. No one can say he thought he was going to kill him. No one can say that there was a plan for this to happen. This is what we might call a hasty murder. It simply strikes, he says.

High claims for damages

The plaintiff's counsel Maria Wilhelmsson claims for damages of SEK 100,000 was to the victim's family consisting of two parents, two siblings and a daughter.

Defense lawyer Ingvar Backman dislikes the victim's siblings to receive damages.

- I mean in this case there are no circumstances that make the siblings so close to the victim. He also dislikes that relatives should receive a higher compensation than the standard amount of SEK 60,000, he says.

June 22, the verdict is announced by Västmanland District Court.
