After an hour, Black Lives Matter - the demonstration in Gothenburg - was dissolved, and then moved from a peaceful manifestation to violent riots.

Police cars were attacked with both glossy words and stones and violent protesters made rushes towards the police-clad police. The Nordstan shopping center had to close and several shops in the center had their boxes broken.

"There are individuals who are on the scene to wreak havoc and use violence," says Teodor Smedius, commander-in-chief at the police region West.

So far, the police have arrested five people and made 35 criminal reports. The crime categories include violent riots, illicit sabotage, violence against officials and abuse.

The demonstration permit granted was only valid for 50 people, and only on Heden, but according to Teodor Smedius, the police were aware that more people would show up.
