• Interview. The daughter of the Cuquis in 'La que se avecina': "I am very good at learning the letters from bars"

Antonio Pagudo had been a fixture in La que se avecina , one of Telecinco's great success series. He entered in 2007, to play the character of Javier Maroto , and for more than 12 seasons not an episode had been missed: that constancy made him a popular and beloved actor, and although he surely could afford to go outside to walking - unlike what could happen to other handsome men on TV in their heyday, type Miguel Ángel Silvestre or Hugo Silva -, without a doubt his life changed for the better.

He quickly saw how his working conditions , the stability of his family and even his incidence on social networks improved - currently he has more than half a million followers on Instagram, and an enviable engagement . Pagudo, who had started as a man of theater in independent companies and as a secondary character in Cuéntame, suddenly, was one of the most fit actors in Spanish comedy for all audiences.

That is why, when it was announced in early 2019 that he was leaving La que avecina, that news fell among the audience like a jug of cold water. Why? For a time, Antonio maintained a discreet silence, but after a few months he gave his version: the producers of the series had wanted to introduce modifications to his contract that he refused to accept, since they did not correspond to his longevity or his support for the series, and that left him in a worse situation than before. And he decided to look for new paths that he quickly found: this Monday he has released Benidorm , a new comedy by Atresmedia in which he plays a terminally ill person who travels from the Basque Country to the coastal town of Alicante to try to seduce the love of his adolescence.

That Antonio Pagudo carries practically the entire series on his shoulders is the proof that, at 43, he is not a minor actor, but a star that is little known because he has always put the work in the foreground and has led a simple, calm life and without high-sounding statements . In fact, he is a lucky worker completely dedicated to his family whose only extravagance is his artistic last name, a synthesis of his two real last names: Pérez Agudo . Father of two children - a boy and a girl -, he is romantically linked to Mónica Cordobés , whom he married in 2006, and with whom he forms not only a sentimental tandem, but also a professional tandem, since she is in charge of many aspects related to the public image and representation of Pagudo.

To understand his life, nothing better than walking around on his Instagram account: work, meetings with friends, advertising commitments discreetly cast in non-invasive images, horseback riding on the beach, naps and hugs with his children. A normal guy, lucky and who likes him. He is blessed by life.
