The indicators continue to improve in France. In the past 24 hours, the country has counted 54 new deaths due to the coronavirus, which brings the assessment of the epidemic to 29,209 deaths since March 1, according to new figures released Monday, June 8 by the Directorate General of Health, which do not take into account the Ehpad.

"The situation has improved, it continues to improve" but "it is too early to relax in any way our vigilance, that of the health system and that of the French as well", declared the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran , traveling on Monday to Argenteuil (Val d'Oise).

"We will be able to overcome this virus but the time has not yet come to see this, even if (...) the indicators are improving."

Decline in number of hospitalizations

The number of people hospitalized for a Covid-19 infection continues to decline, to 12,315 patients, against 12,461 on Sunday, or 146 less in 24 hours.

The number of serious cases in intensive care, in constant decline for two months, is also down, to 1,024 against 1,053 Sunday (-29). We have to go back to March 18 to find a daily report showing fewer patients in intensive care (931).

In terms of contamination, the Public Health agency France reports on Monday evening of 211 additional confirmed cases for a total of 154,188 since the start of the epidemic.

In detail, France recorded 18,859 deaths in hospitals and 10,350 in medico-social establishments. For the latter, including accommodation establishments for dependent elderly people, these data date back to June 2 and will be updated on Tuesday by the French public health agency, specifies the DGS.
