About a thousand people go back full-time in connection with the termination of short-term permits at Volvo Trucks cab factory in Umeå.

According to Jan Olov Carlsson, it is in principle already full speed in two shifts at the factory. The order intake, together with old orders that remain, means that not a single day's layoff will be available until October, according to Carlsson.

"It is a relief for us right now, but then production will depend on whether Volvo continues to receive deliveries from our suppliers during the ongoing pandemic," says Jan-Olov Carlsson.

On March 23, AB Volvo stopped production in Sweden. In Umeå, 1,400 employees were laid off at the cab factory. At the end of April, production started up again in Umeå again. At that time, the agreement meant work to 40 percent and layoffs to 60 percent.

Some of the officials continue to be laid off

The layoff for IF Metall's workers expires on June 12. However, the factory officials will continue to be laid off to varying degrees until September 22, with the exception of certain production-related functions, which also exclude them from continued lay-off after June 12.

During the layoffs, the workers had a payroll deduction of 7.5 percent. The renegotiation of the layoffs also means that the company repays 1.5 percent of the salary deduction, since the layoffs have worked more than 40 percent.
