Tunisian President Qais Saeed's office said today that the president ordered the lifting of the curfew imposed since last March to stem the spread of the Corona virus, referring to the decision to succeed in controlling the epidemic.

Tunisia has already reopened shops, businesses, mosques, cafes and hotels, after nearly all activities closed for months.

A member of the newly created Corona Virus Control Committee in Tunisia said today, Monday, that the epidemic had been brought under control in the country with five consecutive days without any infection.

Dr. Nassaf Ben Alia, a member of the committee and director of the Observatory of Emerging Diseases, said that Tunisia has effectively controlled the epidemic, but must continue to adhere to preventive health measures.

For the fifth consecutive day, Tunisia did not report any infection with the virus either locally or also with foreigners.

Ben Ali said in her statement to the Tunisian News Agency: "The challenge during the coming stage is to control the incoming cases so that they do not cause the virus to leak into society."

According to the latest update of the Tunisian Ministry of Health, the number of people infected with the virus has reached 1087 cases, including 982 cases of recovery and 56 cases that are still HIV-positive and are in the process of follow-up, while the number of deaths stabilized at 49 cases.
