Donald Trump said that if the Democrats did not come up with “constant attacks” against him, including as part of the “Russian affair,” his election ratings would now be higher. The head of the White House wrote about this on his Twitter page.

“If I hadn’t been subjected to constant attacks for three years due to fake and illegal investigations of Russia, Russia, Russia and the impeachment fraud, I would have bypassed Sleepy Joe (former vice president Joe Biden, presidential candidate) by 25 points USA from the Democratic Party.  - RT ) and inactive Democrats. It’s extremely unfair, but it is !!! ” - said Trump.

If I wasn't constantly harassed for three years by fake and illegal investigations, Russia, Russia, Russia, and the Impeachment Hoax, I'd be up by 25 points on Sleepy Joe and the Do Nothing Democrats. Very unfair, but it is what it is !!!

Non-stop criticism

Recall that the members of the Democratic Party throughout the term of Trump’s in power put forward various kinds of charges against him, on the basis of which, among other things, they tried to impeach the incumbent US president.

So, in July 2019, such an initiative was made by Congressman Tom Malinowski, who introduced a draft resolution to the House of Representatives of the United States Congress condemning the “racist” statements of the head of the White House.

“(House of Representatives. -  RT ) strongly condemns the racist remarks of President Donald Trump, legitimizing and reinforcing fear of new Americans (immigrants who have recently acquired US citizenship. -  RT ) and colored people,” the text of the document says.

It was about Trump’s statement on his Twitter page in which he wrote about “progressive” female congressmen who came from countries whose authorities are “complete disaster” and “the most corrupt” in the world. The head of the White House advised these women to "go back" and "help restore the completely destroyed and crime-filled places where they came from."

The US president did not indicate the name, however, congressmen from the Democratic Party, defending the rights of migrants, took his words to their account.

Later, at the end of the same month, the Democrats again took up the topic of impeachment, but already justifying the need for this measure by the fact that Trump allegedly “abused his powers” and tried to impede the investigation of Robert Muller about the alleged “connections” of the current president’s election headquarters with Moscow. Congresswoman Democrat Eliot Engel came forward with the initiative to begin the impeachment process, proposing to start another investigation into Trump. However, in the end, the Democrats did not succeed in removing the 45th US president from power using such an argument.

Recall, the case of the “connections” of the Trump election headquarters with Russia as part of the commission of special prosecutor Robert Muller was investigated for two years and ended in March 2019. At the same time, the final report was sent to Congress, which said that it was not possible to identify Trump’s conspiracy with Moscow.

However, this “attack” against Trump on the topic of “ties” with Russia did not end there. In October, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called the 45th president of the United States "the dream of Vladimir Putin." She stated this in an interview with the Campaign HQ podcast. According to Clinton, Moscow “wants to” help Trump once again take the chair of the White House’s head in the 2020 elections, this time by dividing the electorate of the Democratic Party.

The Democrats made another attempt to deprive Trump of power at the end of September, when the House of Representatives, where the majority of the members of the Democratic Party, launched an impeachment procedure against the 45th president of the United States, which was triggered by a July telephone conversation between the head of the White House and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

According to the Democrats, the American leader took advantage of his position and put pressure on his Ukrainian counterpart to launch an investigation into Joe Biden and his son Hunter. The latter was a member of the board of directors of the Ukrainian company Burisma, which appeared at the center of a corruption scandal several years ago. Trump has repeatedly denied the charges against him. Zelensky also announced the absence of pressure from the US president.

Ultimately, in February 2020, the current head of the White House was acquitted by the Senate.

“Tried to catch by the hand”

As Andrei Sidorov, Dean of the Moscow State University’s Faculty of World Politics, said in a conversation with RT, Trump rightly notes that for three years the Democrats actually "did not let him work with their attacks."

“The US president was forced to concentrate precisely on repelling these attacks, and not to fully fulfill his campaign promises, raising the standard of living of ordinary Americans,” the expert said.

According to Sidorov, it is no coincidence that the head of the White House focuses on the Democrats’ attempts to discredit him because of alleged "ties" with Moscow.

“The image of Trump against the background of such accusations among the solid electoral core of the Republicans was practically not injured. These people initially understood that this whole story was fake. However, the Democrat’s attacks on this part could convince the Americans, who didn’t especially check the facts, and the vacillating part of the voters to vote for the representative of the Democratic Party, ”the analyst explained.

According to Sidorov, for several years the Democrats really "tried to catch his hand in the framework of the" Russian case "and sprinkled with unfounded accusations, preventing him from working."

“Therefore, now, when, despite the pandemic and protests in the USA, the presidential campaign continues, he wanted to emphasize this,” the expert noted.

Aggravation of the domestic political situation

According to analysts, a new flood of Democrat accusations against the head of the White House followed amid the spread of coronavirus infection in the United States and mass protests over the death of African American George Floyd.

Recall that the United States ranks first in the world in the number of patients with coronavirus infection. According to Johns Hopkins University, almost 2 million infected were detected there, more than 110 thousand people with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 died.

In mid-April, the US Federal Reserve announced a sharp decline in economic activity in the United States due to the spread of coronavirus.

According to The New York Times, in just four weeks, beginning in mid-March, the US economy has lost about the same number of jobs as it has been created over the past ten years - about 22 million.

Trump's response to the pandemic is regularly criticized by representatives of the Democratic Party. So, Chuck Schummer, a New York State Democrat and senior senator on his Twitter page regularly reminds the head of the White House that he still does not have an “adequate” national testing strategy. In addition, the Democrat accuses the American leader of failing to take care of saving the lives of Americans in a pandemic.

The Trump administration cannot claim they care about saving lives but at the very same time be suing to rip health care from millions of Americans and end protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions. #DropTheLawsuit

The situation around the protests in the United States also exacerbated criticism of the 45th president of the United States by representatives of the Democratic Party. Recall, mass demonstrations began in Minneapolis, where on May 25, a black American George Floyd died after being detained by police. A video got into the network, as one of the law enforcement officers during the arrest pressed the man with his knee to the ground, pressing hard on the neck. The footage also shows how Floyd complains several times about a lack of air, and then faints.

This video caused a wide resonance in American society. In Minneapolis, demonstrations began that spanned the entire country. Protests and riots took place in more than 500 cities in the United States.

Democrats, in particular congressional leaders such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate minority leader Chuck Schummer, have criticized Trump for using force to crack down on protesters. Schummer also noted on his Twitter page that the U.S. administration is using the military as a tool to intimidate American citizens.

President Trump must immediately cease this behavior.

Secretary Esper and General Milley should not allow the US Armed Forces to come anywhere near these ugly stunts.

This administration is using the military as a tool to intimidate American citizens.

“There are chances to win”

According to Andrei Sidorov, Trump’s statement, in which he accuses the Democrats of attacks, is also intended to smooth out some discontent in the ranks of the Republican Party with the inability of the American leader to stop the protests.

“Part of the republican electorate blames Trump for not being able to do anything about it. Therefore, the American leader needs to somehow justify himself, ”the expert said.

Moreover, the economic achievements that Trump managed to achieve before the pandemic, in particular, the increase in the number of jobs, have now been leveled due to the negative consequences of the spread of COVID-19, Sidorov believes.

“Despite the fact that the May unemployment figures are already better than they were, for example, in April, the US will have to wait a bit more for positive trends to overcome this crisis. Pandemic response measures are showing delayed performance, but Democrats are blaming Trump now. And the head of the White House in the framework of the political struggle is forced to refer to the fact that he was prevented from working, ”the analyst said.

A similar opinion is shared by the expert of the International Institute for Humanitarian and Political Studies Vladimir Bruter. According to him, Trump hoped that by the end of his first term, the economic situation in the United States will improve after the measures he took.

“Trump hoped that it was this circumstance that would give a certain impetus to a certain category of voters, so that they supported him. But the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic is different. And Trump is very worried about this, ”the expert said in an interview with RT.

At the same time, Bruter notes that, despite a slight drop in the rating of Trump among voters, “he has chances to win.” Recall, at the moment, the level of support for Biden among Americans is 49.9%, while Trump has 42.1% of the vote. This is evidenced by the data aggregator polls RealClearPolitics.

“The final outcome of the 2020 presidential election will depend on how they conduct the second and final part of the election campaign,” the analyst said.

Andrei Sidorov, for his part, predicts Trump's victory if the economic situation in the United States normalizes for the election.

“If the economy recovers, if the trends that were outlined in May will progress, then Trump will most likely defeat Biden,” the expert concluded.
