Sources said to the island that the governorates of As-Suwayda and Daraa in southern Syria witnessed demonstrations protesting the economic and living conditions the country is going through, as the national currency (lira) witnessed an unprecedented collapse against the dollar.

The sources confirmed that the demonstrators demanded the Syrian regime to assume its responsibilities to face the deteriorating situation and the high prices of basic commodities, as some demanded the dismissal of the government because of its failure to solve the economic problems facing the country, they said.

In the past few months, the endosperm governorate witnessed dozens of protests in which chants and anti-regime slogans were chanted.

The clips circulated on social media platforms showed dozens of people roaming the streets of Tafas (Daraa) and As-Suwayda.

It is noteworthy that the lira witnessed a major collapse during the past few days, especially with the approach of applying the new penal law to the Syrian regime known as Caesar.
