“I just ordered our National Guard to begin the process of withdrawing from Washington now that everything is under full control,” Trump said.

According to him, fighters of the National Guard if necessary will be able to "quickly return."

He also stated that "last night there were far fewer protesters than expected."

On June 1, the White House announced that Trump had decided to send additional federal forces to suppress the riots.

Protests in dozens of US cities began after the death of African-American George Floyd, who died in late May shortly after being detained by police. One of the group of policemen held him, pressing his neck with his knee.
