07 June 2020The protest from the United States arrives in Rome: thousands, especially children and families, demonstrate in Piazza del Popolo against all racism after the appeal on social media, launched by a vast cartel of organizations including the Young Green Europeanists, Fridaysforfuture -Rome, Nibi: Italian blacks - Black italians, 6000 sardines, Extinction Rebellion Rome International, American Expats for Positive Change and Women's March Rome.

Spaced out and all wearing masks, the protesters carried homemade signs, on the American model, with the slogans of the campaign that exploded after the murder of George Floyd written on them.

Many writings, especially in English such as, "No justice, no peace", "I can't breath", "Defund the police", "fuck racism". But also some cartels asking for "ius soli" and rights for migrants. On one of them, "They die at our house and we don't even know their names: black lives matter".

There is not a stage, but only a microphone from which the interventions of the organizers alternate, some of them in English. "Demonstration started with about 3000 people in the square with maximum security and rules for social distancing and sanitary precautions. We will not be an example of massacre as happened yesterday afternoon in Rome," said a statement by 6000 Sardine.

There will be 7 testimonies from people who have suffered violence and racism, the intervention of Jasmine Cristallo and the organizers of women's March. At 12 noon there will be 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence, the first 4 kneeling and the last 4 standing with the left fist high in the sky.

The event 'I can't breath - black lives matter' scheduled in Piazza Santi Apostoli in Rome has been moved to Piazza del Popolo. "The police headquarters for security reasons, budgeting many people, chose to change the square and move the event," said the organizers.
