Since March 13, all nightclubs have been closed to the public. In three months, the establishments have lost an enormous amount of money and still do not know when they will be able to reopen ... and under what conditions. Aurélien Antonini, one of the managers of "Badaboum" in Paris, explains to Europe 1 microphone that it will be "impossible" to set up a physical distance.

France is shrinking: the parks have reopened their doors and since Tuesday June 2, the terraces have filled up everywhere. But certain sectors, in particular for events, are still wondering about the possibility of resuming activity and welcoming the public. This is the case with night clubs. At the "Badaboum", where more than 6,000 people danced each night before confinement, the main hall of the establishment was once again empty on Saturday evening. Since the night of March 13, nothing has changed in this nightclub in the 11th arrondissement of Paris.

"I do not know how, in the near future, this activity will be reborn"

"Overall, all the facilities have been shut down," said Aurélien Antonini, one of the managers of the nightclub. With the confinement and the prohibition for the French to gather in confined spaces for more than ten people, it was everyone at night who fell asleep. The "Badaboum", it still stands on two legs thanks to state aid such as partial unemployment or load deferrals.

But Aurélien Antonini is far from optimistic. "I don't know how, in the near future, this activity will be reborn", he recognizes at the microphone of Europe 1. And above all, with what constraints will the nightclubs reopen?, He wonders. .

A physical distance "impossible" to respect

If the compulsory hand washing at the entrance of establishments seems easy to implement, other measures may cool many players in the sector. In a place for socializing like a nightclub, how to enforce physical distance? "Impossible", replies Aurélien Antonini. "We cannot in our establishment draw circles by asking people to stay within a meter of each other".

So that the nightclubs can once again welcome the dancers of Saturday evening, "the government must be ready to assume that it reopens establishments without social distancing", estimates the manager of "Badaboum". It remains to be seen whether such an announcement is possible and when it could take place. One thing is certain: it will not be possible to dance in a nightclub before June 21, the date of the end of the second phase of deconfinement.
