The Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority stated that the student’s guardian cannot recover the fees for re-enrolling his son in a private school, after paying it, except in three cases, that is, he left Dubai before the start of the new academic year, after highlighting the page to cancel the residence visa in the emirate or Any other evidence of departure, or if the student and his family travel outside the country, or any exceptional circumstances submitted to the Authority for consideration.

This came in response to the authority’s question to parents of students on the authority’s website about the possibility of refunding registration fees, because they are not sure that they will continue to study in the school next September, in light of the conditions of the Corona Award and its implications.

The authority stressed the need for the student’s guardian to pay re-registration fees only for his son, in case he wants to reserve a seat in the school for the next academic year, explaining that the payment of this insurance (seat reservation fees) is optional, except that if the student’s guardian refuses to pay him, Failure to guarantee the school may cause a seat for his son or daughter in the next school year.

The Authority confirmed that the school has the right to require the student’s parent to pay insurance to renew the registration at a value that does not exceed 5% or 500 dirhams (whichever is higher), provided that this amount is calculated from the school fees for the first semester.

The Authority has identified four cases for recovering school fees or part of them, which are before the start of the school year in the event that the student’s guardian pays the entire school fees, and he decides to withdraw, as he is entitled to a refund of the fees paid except for registration or re-registration fees.

In the event that the student has been enrolled in the school for a period of two weeks or less, then a month is calculated from the value of the school fees, and in the event that the student has been registered in the school for a period of more than two weeks and up to a maximum period, as two months are calculated from the value of the school fees, and in the case of the student Registered in the school for more than a month, the value of the full semester is calculated, then the student's parent will recover the remaining fees.
