"The metal of the Egyptians appears in adversity." As the incidence of corona virus infection continues to rise, Egypt has turned into a large red crescent, and volunteering and donation initiatives to save the injured and sick have returned to the cyberspace, as a substitute for the fear and horror clouds that prevailed in the early days of the epidemic.

Popular committees were formed in most of the regions, to transport food to isolated families of Corona patients, a huge initiative established by a young journalist, and supported by many activists, as they activated the initiative on a large scale, and several committees branched out to serve miniature neighborhoods, and governorates outside the borders of Greater Cairo.

The initiative organizers cook healthy meals ready for the injured, to increase immunity, and meals provided for three days, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, in addition to healthy fruits and drinks, are sufficient, and the meals continue to be sent for fifteen days, or according to the isolation period.

Healthy food to increase immunity

Basma Mustafa, the Al-Mubadarah Foundation, says she does not accept financial donations, but only needs support, by donating healthy meal ingredients, in addition to cooking donors and others to deliver meals to those who deserve them.

Basma explained that the initiative does not require the poverty of the homeless, but on the contrary, it does not know the class. Food is for everyone and for those who need it, and he only has to fill in the initiative form with the details of his condition so that food can reach him wherever he is.

Despite the importance of drug therapy in Corona patients, recovery from the virus depends primarily on the strength of immunity and its readiness to fight the virus, so one of the treatment plans for those with Covid-19 ″ was that the food contained protein, vitamins, hot drinks, and a diet. Free from sugar and starches that weaken the immune system.

For this reason, the Health Isolated Food Initiative has defined the types of food that it needs to provide to patients who cannot serve themselves, especially if all family members have an infection.

Basma restricted the types of food to meat, fresh chicken, fish, vegetables and fresh fruits, based on medical recommendations.

Free homes for insulation

Food was not the only contribution that the Egyptians made to the Corona sufferers. Many were quick to donate their empty homes to allocate them for home insulation for patients who do not have the ability to isolate in their homes.

One of the citizens donated a three-storey house in Sharkia governorate, and he pledged to furnish and equip it, to receive cases of domestic isolation.

In Tukh, Qaliubiya Governorate, Ahmed Al-Shazly donated his family’s house, allocating it to the cases of house isolation, which do not need intensive care, while bearing all the costs of isolation related to food, medical supplies, amenities and treatment.

As for Zeenat Abu Shawish, of Palestinian origin, she was the first woman to donate her family’s house in Sharqia, to allocate it to the isolation patients, in addition to bearing all the expenses of treatment for those who are unable.
