The secretary general of the CGT, Philippe Martinez, estimated Sunday evening that the citizens would have an "opportunity" to show their support for the medical personnel mobilized against the coronavirus by taking "in the street" on June 16.

Having cheered the caregivers every night during confinement "it's very good", but this national day of action is "the opportunity for many employees, many citizens to say, after having applauded them, + we come to support them in the street + ", assured the union leader on BFMTV.

His organization is a member of a coalition of unions and hospital collectives which calls for a "national day of initiatives and strikes" on June 16 to force the executive to "take into account all of their demands".

They demand in particular a "general revaluation of wages", a "recruitment plan", a "training plan" and "the end of all closings of establishments, services and beds".

These subjects were discussed last Thursday during the reception of trade unions and employers by Emmanuel Macron and Edouard Philippe, said Philippe Martinez.

"We went to the Elysée Palace to tell the President of the Republic + everything you said during the confinement (...), what are we waiting to do? +", Said the number one from the CGT, referring to the revaluation of the salaries of caregivers but also of "2nd line, those who are called the" first of chore + ".

"It is fine speeches, medals, but concrete actions are needed," he insisted.

The mobilization on June 16 will take place in the middle of the "Ségur de la santé", concertation project launched by the executive on May 25 and expected to be completed by mid-July in order to concretize the "massive investment and revaluation "announced at the end of March by Emmanuel Macron.
