Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos personally responded to a customer’s email, rejecting the customer’s view of placing an advertisement for the “Life of Blacks Important” movement on the company's website.

The customer - who was identified only as "Massey" - wrote in an email that it was "totally annoying" to see the sign at the top of the website saying "Life of the Blacks Important", while "Everyone's Life is Important", which is another campaign slogan.

The customer concluded his message to Bezos, "And if all these spirits serving your company were not important, where would Amazon be today?"

Simply put, Bezos began his response to the letter by writing, "No, Massi, I must disagree with you." He explained how the statement "The life of blacks is important" does not negate the importance of the lives of others.

"The life of black souls talks about racism and the disproportionate risk black people face in our law enforcement and justice system," Bezos wrote.

He also spoke of how he, as a white man, does not have to worry about his son Preston if he is arrested by the police, but the same cannot be said of black fathers.

"I have a 20-year-old son, and I am not worried that he may suffocate to death while in custody one day," he said. "This is not something I worry about, but black parents cannot say the same."

Bezos expressed support for the ongoing protests sparked by the killing of George Floyd, who died after a white policeman put his knee on his neck for several minutes.

"I do not intend from this to exclude or reduce the very real concerns that you or anyone else may have for his private life, but I want you to know that I support this movement that we see happening around us, and my position will not change," he said.

Protests erupted across the United States and in places around the world, attracting hundreds of thousands of people demanding justice for black people who had died unjustly by police officers.
