The firefighters of Bagnères-de-Luchon (or Luchon) in Haute-Garonne took charge of a young woman of 24 years old this Sunday morning at 5:15 am, in the parking lot of the Lys valley. Victim of a fracture in the vertebrae and multiple bruises, this hiker was taken to Saint-Gaudens hospital, after a night of rescue led by mountain CRS.

It all started on Saturday evening around 8:00 p.m. when the victim's spouse, in shock, contacted the CRS de Luchon. After a day of sporty strolls in the central Pyrenees around the Pinata pass (2,152 m), the Commingeois couple lost their way when reaching their car. Under the rain and the storm, the young woman slipped for about thirty meters in an area of rocky bars.

No helicopter due to bad weather

As the weather conditions did not allow a helicopter to take off, four Luchon CRSs set off. After geolocating the young people, they found them around 10:30 p.m., at an altitude of about 2,000 m.

After installing the young woman on a stretcher and raising it for 200 meters to a path with a rope system, the Luchonnais police were joined by four CRS from Saint-Lary (Hautes-Pyrénées) to complete their rescue at the end of the night.
