An investigation carried out by the Castelnau-le-Lez Gendarmerie Research Brigade and the regional interdepartmental gendarmerie group has made it possible to dismantle an important network of receiving gold. The network worked in the Montpellier basin.
On Wednesday, a hundred soldiers from the Castelnau-le-Lez gendarmerie participated in this judicial operation. They were supported by the mobile gendarmes of Nîmes and dog teams. The soldiers arrested eight people. They were all placed in police custody in the process.
Gold smithing tools, jewelry and cash seized
Very many jewels, cash, pure gold, tools of gold casting were discovered during the searches. Bank foreclosures were also carried out. The total amount is several hundred thousand euros. The investigations are continuing.
