The United States filed a lawsuit against a Chinese company that sold about 500,000 fake N95 masks, AFP reported on the 5th (local time).
According to a complaint filed with the U.S. Department of Justice to the Federal Court of Brooklyn, New York City, Chinese mask maker'This Year's Print Packaging Corporation' is accused of deceiving and selling mask performance.
The company said its masks met the N95 standard and was certified by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), but it all turned out to be false.
The company sold 495,000 fake masks in April.
The companies that imported it were found to have paid more than 1 million dollars (about 1.29 billion won).
The FBI, who investigated the case, said, "The medical defects and industry workers who treat Corona 19 because of the mask defect would have been directly harmed."
