Fernando Simón, director of the Center for Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies (CCAES), is in the crosshairs of the opposition. The Popular Party calls for his appearance in the Health Commission of Congress to explain all the decisions and measures that he has adopted since the beginning of the year, in relation to the coronavirus crisis, to stop the spread of the disease, protect from it to the citizens and, finally, to manage the de-escalated call.

The initiative is signed by the PP's parliamentary spokeswoman, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo. The popular ones consider that good part of the decisions promoted by Simón have been "very controversial" and have not responded to "objective criteria".

This is a first step in the accountability that the PP intends to force in the Government and that will culminate in the request to set up a commission of investigation when the pandemic is under control.

In the opinion of the popular , the management of the Covid-19 pandemic has been "ineffective" and has suffered from "lack of foresight", incurring continuous lunges and confusing and even contradictory measures.

"Unpresentable" hide information

In this sense, they consider it essential to explain why the manifestation of 8-M was allowed and encouraged when data was already available confirming the rapid spread of the virus and the serious risks of contagion in the concentrations of people, and why, Precisely one day after the demonstration, the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, who has always taken refuge in the council of "scientists and experts", gave carte blanche to the autonomous communities to suspend all kinds of events and massive acts.

For the PP Deputy Secretary for Organization, Ana Beltrán , it is "absolutely shameful and unpresentable" that the Pedro Sánchez government withheld information about the demonstration on the occasion of Women's Day , putting ideology "above saving lives." For this reason, in declarations to Europa Press , he stressed that his party will demand to clear political responsibilities at the highest level.

The popular ones also try to explain the continuous dance of figures in the count of deaths from coronavirus, as well as to specify the number of health workers affected by the disease.
