In Burundi, after the proclamation of the final election results, the main opposition party, the CNL, reacted. Its president, Agathon Rwasa, recognized that the decision of the Constitutional Court in Burundi was final but as explained by his spokesperson, Thérence Manirambona, this does not mean that we recognize the results or even the institutions.

On the Burundian national radio and television channels, the president of the CNL, Agathon Rwasa, admitted that the High Court's decision put an end to his appeal contesting the results. His spokesperson, Thérence Manirambona, however clarified that this statement by Rwasa did not mean that the court's decision reflected the Burundian vote.

All decisions which are rendered by the Constitutional Court have no appeal. This is why we deplore this lack of justice, I would say. So, compared to Burundian law, we are blocked but that does not say that the CNL cannot continue to show that the results of the poll do not reflect the reality of the Burundian people.
