With delays, technical difficulties ... Podemos has held its first State Citizen Council after a few weeks ago both this body and the leadership of Pablo Iglesias were renewed at the third Citizen Assembly . A telematic appointment summoned so that the second vice-president of the Government reels and exposes what he considers achievements of his party being in the Council of Ministers . And where that dialectical confrontation that has intensified in recent weeks against the right has continued, to which it has wanted to send a warning: "The right of casseroles will not govern in Spain because it will never add a majority in Congress."

For a few days, especially from Unidas Podemos, the aim is to send the message that despite the crisis caused by the coronavirus, the four-year legislature will be exhausted and that PSOE and Unidas Podemos will renew their mandate for another four years. And, in addition, Iglesias is immersed in a confrontation with PP and Vox in which he does not lower the decibels. Before his leadership, he has accused PP and Vox of "trying to influence some powers of the State" to erode the coalition government and govern them. "The right is dedicated to tension because they are perfectly aware that they will not add up and will not rule for many years."

This strategy that churches undertake to legitimize their government action pivots on the delegitimization of the actions of PP and Vox. "They are aware of their defeat, so they lie, kick and throw tantrums instead of proposals. They use tension because they know that the social majority will never accept cuts, privatizations, tax amnesties or corruption again."

The ERTE, as their great contribution

Although, in reality, the great pretext of this appointment was that Iglesias could publicly expose what he considers his achievements in the Government: the minimum vital income, the elimination of dismissal for medical casualties, the law of only yes is yes' ... But he has placed the ERTE as "the main contribution of United We Can in the Government to protect people from the crisis."

Iglesias has inaugurated this State Citizen Council - the highest body between assemblies - with a speech where he wanted to convey the idea that what he defines as "social shield" and measures such as prohibiting cuts in basic supplies, moratoriums on rent and mortgages, You help the dining room for minors, the increase in the minimum wage ... they are possible because your party is in the government. Their slogan is that in this crisis they look "for the general interest and not for the private interest" -in contrast to 2008, he always adds- thanks to the fact that Podemos governs.

In a triumphalist speech before his own he has exhibited the ERTE as an example of his influence, attributing himself to its implementation. "We are proud to have a Minister of Labor and Social Economy like Yolanda Díaz." Their conclusion is that the EREs have "achieved that more than six million people in Spain have been beneficiaries of a SEPE benefit during this emergency. It is the highest level of social protection ever achieved in Spain".

According to May data, of the total number of Social Security affiliates, as of May 29, 2,998,970 were protected by a situation of total or partial suspension by Temporary Employment Regulation Files (ERTE). Of these, 2,616,553 were in ERTE due to force majeure. Since the end of April, 457,909 people have ceased to be in ERTE due to force majeure, while 70,094 have been included in an ERTE not due to force majeure. It is a balance of 387,715 who leave this employment situation.

What remains unknown to this day is how these workers subject to ERTE will return to their jobs. It is something that the government must still define. Businesses and unions have already asked to articulate flexible formulas.
