Although the gambling habits have not changed for the vast majority during the ongoing pandemic, they have deteriorated in an already vulnerable group, according to a survey conducted by Lund University among just over 2,000 Swedes.

This is what it looks like: In the survey, 62 percent of the population refers to themselves as players, and of these, six percent have increased gambling. There are those who have gambling problems.

- In the relatively limited group, only a little more than half meet the criteria for problem gambling. Therefore, it is especially unfortunate that they are playing more, says Anders Håkansson, professor of gaming addiction at Lund University to SVT News.

Even greater risks

In the absence of sports and thus games in sports, the vulnerable group has often moved gambling to even more addictive games, ie casino games.

- Online casinos are the watch type of a game that develops addiction, says Anders Håkansson and continues:

- It's fast, repetitive, and it's everywhere, around the clock.
