It is the State Property Agency that is now building the stairs in the 15th century castle, which is located right next to the cathedral in Strängnäs.

It is a steel spiral staircase where the steps are clad with oak or carpet. Walls and doors that fire-proof the stairs between the floors are to be painted so that they blend into the interior of the room. At the same time, ventilation is also enhanced.

"Long-awaited redevelopment"

The State Property Agency is implementing the project together with the Royal Library, which is a tenant.

- It's a long-awaited rebuild. Now it will be possible for more people to see the National Hall, the room at the top of the house where Gustav Vasa, according to tradition, was elected king 497 years ago, on June 6, 1523, now Sweden's National Day, says Elin Andersson, responsible for the Roggebiblioteket, which is housed in Roggeborgen, in a press release.
