This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the department.

"The drug is indicated for patients with a severe course of the disease, when the so-called cytokine storm develops - an excessive inflammatory reaction of the body to the introduction of the virus ..." - said the ministry.

The department noted that preventing the development of a cytokine storm is extremely important in the treatment of coronavirus infection.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Health approved the drug against the coronavirus Avifavir.

The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev, told Russian President Vladimir Putin that Avifavir will be free in Russia as part of the compulsory medical insurance.
