Secretary of State for Gender Equality, Marlène Schiappa, says she wants to "do more" in the government which could be reshuffled this summer, especially on the family. “I want to do more and therefore wear more things. But the president and the Prime Minister will decide where I am useful, "said the minister in an interview with the Parisian posted online this Saturday evening, while a reshuffle of the government could take place after the second round of municipal elections on June 28.

“For me, the question is not so much to weigh as to know for what to do. I want to do more. I want to do more, for women and for families, ”adds Marlène Schiappa. The secretary of state wants to "continue the work already started on equality between women and men" so that "this question remains a priority in government and in society" and "to reflect on questions of harmony between professional and family life" by rethinking "the issue of family leave".

Marlène Schiappa suggests creating “parent-sick” leave

“With the crisis, it will be necessary to produce and therefore to work a lot. This must be accompanied by support for the time spent with the family, especially for the sandwiched generations, who must take care of both their children and their parents, ”said the Minister. She therefore proposed "that the extension of paternity leave to one month be included in the law" and suggested creating "parent-sick" leave or "young grandparents" leave.

Questioned on a possible candidacy of the humorist Jean-Marie Bigard for the presidential of 2022, she estimates "that there is no illegitimate candidacy" and that she is "not at ease with the idea that an intelligentsia decides who has the right to enter the political circle or not ”.
