“To date, G20 members and invited countries have pledged more than $ 20 billion to support global health financing,” the Big Twenty official website said in a statement.

These funds will be used to diagnose, develop vaccines and treat a new coronavirus infection, as well as research and development as part of the fight against the pandemic.

Earlier, the World Health Organization said it had raised less than half of the funds needed to combat COVID-19.

In April, G20 health ministers acknowledged that the pandemic revealed a number of weaknesses in health systems.
